Visit Australia and Sydney CCI3* !!!

Sunday, May 04, 2014 - Joanne Bridgman
'Biggles + 'Balmoral Sensation" fly to Sydney . I had a wonderful trip to Australia last week .  My gorgeous homebred eventer
" Biggles" ( by GRASSHOPPER our stallion )  was heading off to start a new campaign across the ditch  with  eventer Jade Findlay of Findlay Equestrian .  His  travel partner on the plane , Clarke Johnstone's 3* eventer  " Balmoral Sensation" ( Ritchie) was heading off to contest the Sydney CCI***.  Both horses travelled well and arrived at Jade's gorgeous farm and settled in quickly.
The Sydney International Horse Trial was  brilliant  and was combined with a World Cup SJ Qualifier so all the Sjers were there too .
41 y.o. Olympian Shane Rose won the CCI 3* on the  talented  grey "QUALIFIED" finishing on score of 53.40 . It was a testing XC track over tough terrain .
Shane will be hoping this fine performance help him get to WEG later this year .
I was very lucky to be able to watch 4 of the horses sold through QNZH's , competing at the show so that was an added bonus .
Hanging out with NZ friends !!!"Flash Az" was looking his usual fabulous self in the SJing with Junior Jamie Torzillo.
The  NZTB  "Here to Stay" and Belinda Isbister from WA looked  very talented in the Y9ung Event Horse Class .
"Bijou" the wonderful little pocket rocket with Amanda  Young , skipped around the CIC** with ease .
A big highlight for me was to watch  another of my homebreds by GRASSHOPPER my stallion ,  "Topper II " performing with Kirby Delamont. Kirby has done an outstanding job producing this lovely horse to 2* level .  He looked super fancy in the jumping phases jumping double clear.... I am delighted  and very proud of this gorgous horse I bred !!!
Clarke Johnstone did an impressive  dressage test, and was going well XC  but had an unfortunate dismount at the first water ,  very bad luck !!! So that was the end of that... and now rerouting to Taupo CCI*** ( NZ)  next week .

Shane Rose in his element !!!It was such a fun weekend catching up with loads of clients and friends and fellow NZer's , espeically Heather and Allan Cato and the Lobb's ( suppliers of the beautiful Wade Equine Trucks ).
One very amusing spectacle was the race between jockeys on proper Sjing horses and SJers on little ponies. What a hoot that was and  the jockeys were very impressive jumping some decent fences and  looking rather professional I might add !!!
One cute litte pony tried very hard to buck well known Sjer Chris Chugg off , then just took off like a flash of lightening, hilarious .

Full results and other news from this event you can view here on this link .

Rolex Kentucky 3 Day Event, VIDEO !!!

Thursday, May 01, 2014 - Joanne Bridgman
Here is a wonderful site where you can watch a lot of the jumping 'on demand'  at Rolex Kentucky 4* 25th -27th April .
Winner was one of our great  clients William Fox-Pitt with " Bay My Hero" who  is proudly owned by one of Williams loyal owners Catherine Witt .  Congratulations to all connections  !!!!
NZ riders did not fare so well this weekend.
Sir Mark Todd pulled " Aloa" out after the dressage .
Andrew Nicholson had an uncharacteristic  SJing round on "Avebury"  incurring several rails down in 2nd half of the course.

Moving onwards ......... BADMINTON 4* in UK next week !!!!

Kihikihi International Horse Trials !!!

Thursday, April 17, 2014 - Joanne Bridgman
"BUNNY HOP" looking impressive as always !!!Kihikihi International Horse Trials were held 11th /13th April ... once again a fabulous challenging XC course was built by the world class XC course designer John Nicholson  ( Andrew's brother ), from Pre novice level up to 3* level  .
The weather started off rather soggy on Friday  the dressage day but was fab next 2 days.
I had a great weekend apart from getting wet and cold on dressage day .   I rode   "BUNNY HOP " and "BIGGLES" and they were both super  jumping double clear , not in placings sadly  as had few time faults each XC ( bit of a nanna these days I am on xc !!!).
I also had some very cool clients  from Australia looking for nice Eventing  prospects , so that kept me very busy and on my toes, multi tasking all weekend !!! .

Winners CIC*** .Clarke Johnstone riding his his  new  ride " BALMORAL SENSATION  " cleaned up  the CIC*** class once again,,,,  won  3* at  HOY a couple of weeks ago.  Clarke's next start is Sydney 3*  3DE next week in Australia.  This super talented grey was produced to 3* level by  the outstanding  NZ rider Donna Smith and  sadly Donna had to part with him recently and he was sold  . At least this world class horse got to stay with a  top NZ rider  !!!!
Kelsey Rothery and "THE FELON" were 2nd , after their  usual outstanding XC round and also a very very good SJing round,,, just tapping one rail at the end .... grrr !!! What a wonderful partnership these two are .
Simon Gordon riding one of my favourite horses "FLETCH .COM" was  3rd,  Fletch cruising around the XC and SJing  like a pro . Such a classy TB this one is !!!

I feel really sorry for Joe Waldron and Angela Lloyd , getting Eliminated for missing out a 'compulsory check point ' with no jumping involved ........ they must be really kicking themselves for this simple error !!!!

Full results of of all the classes can be found on this link here .

All thanks to Kevin Hansen of EventPro ,,, the passion and ideas behind it all and more ideas for next year's show  as well .

Sir Mark Todd zipped out here from UK to join us and rode in the CIC** eventing and SJing classes. Photo courtesy of
World Champion SJer Philippe Le Jeune from Belgium showed us how good he was riding in the big SJ classes.
A large group of SJing riders from China came out to compete , and they thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

I rode 2 of  QNZH's  lovely hombred  horses "Biggles" and  little pocket rocket " Bunny Hop". Both jumped well in SJing classes but did not make the winners podium .  Next year  !!!

Great thrill was one of  our good clients Geordie Bull riding "Forest Hill " taking out the Pro Am class. What a stunning result for Geordie, having not owned  Forest for long and 50 starters in the class and  he was only double clear round. Class act Geordie !!!

Clarke Johnstone on the stunning grey " Balmoral Sensation" took out the CIC*** eventing class with ease.

Katie McVean riding "Dunstan Springfield" were outstanding and won the Olympic Cup ( Horse of the Year title ).

Bill Noble on "Airthrey Highlander" took the Dressage title, what a well deserved and popular win .

Jock Paget Update from ESNZ !!!

Wednesday, November 27, 2013 - Joanne Bridgman
Statement released today from ESNZ !!!!

Sad news, Jock loses his Burghley title. ESNZ has received notification from FEI that the B blood sample taken from Clifton Promise at the Burghley International Horse Trials has tested positive for the banned substance Reserpine. Clifton Promise, owned by Frances Stead, was ridden to victory at the event by Jock Paget in early September.

Paget is now required to submit written documentation to ...the FEI explaining the presence of the banned substance in Clifton Promise’s bloodstream. He is confident of providing the FEI with a comprehensive explanation which will be considered at a hearing of the FEI Tribunal.

Paget says that while the B sample result is disappointing, it was expected given the blood in the B sample was taken at the same time as the A sample.

“ I will continue to work closely with my team to provide a full explanation to the FEI.”

ESNZ was notified of the positive test from the A sample on 14th October, and since then both the rider and horse have been provisionally suspended from FEI and national competitions. In keeping with ESNZ’s own Clean Sport policy and its full support of the FEI’s Clean Sport programme, Paget has been stood down from any official ESNZ activity while the legal process is underway.

Jim Ellis, ESNZ Chief Executive, says Paget is understanding and fully supportive of ESNZ’s position as the FEI judicial process takes its course.

“ESNZ is confident that he will provide a full and persuasive explanation to the FEI.”

For any comment, please contact Jim Ellis, ESNZ CEO on 027 477 6786; Jock Paget will not be fielding media enquiries while the remainder of the FEI Tribunal process is underway.

Famous Eventer "TAMARILLO" Cloned with Success

Saturday, September 21, 2013 - Joanne Bridgman
News is  out , William Fox-Pitt's famous eventer  "Tamarillo" has been cloned with success.
The foal is now 6 weeks old and aptly named " Tomatillo" ( Tom ).
This gorgeous little foal is now 6 weeks old and his mum is a surrogate mare called "Blondy".
Owners  M W and Finn Guinness are thrilled and plan is to keep him to stand at their  BIDDESDEN STUD in UK.
William says -
"The similarities are said to be uncanny. It’s spooky how like Tam he is.

You see this little boy darting around while all the other horses are standing still..
He’s a clown, just like Tam still doing that at 21.”

Enjoy this video clip of the wee fellow playing  !!!
